Enjoy padel at Better

Looking for a new way to get active? Padel is a fun racquet sport that everyone can enjoy.

Padel (also known as padel tennis) is a cross between tennis and squash that’s full of fast-paced fun. Usually played in a doubles format ( 2 v 2) on an enclosed court with walls - like a squash court - padel is the perfect activity for working on your fitness, coordination and teamwork. Plus, this game is more about strategy than it is about strength or power, so it’s great for all ages and abilities.

In partnership with Game4Padel, the UK’s leading padel operator, we’re working to bring padel to a Better leisure centre near you. Check below to find your nearest padel court and find out how to book a session.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to play padel?

One of the best things about padel is that you don’t need to wear anything specific to start playing! All you’ll need is comfortable clothing you can move easily in and a good pair of trainers.

If you’re planning to play regularly, you can get specific padel shoes.

Is padel easy for beginners?

Whether you’ve played before or it’s your first time picking up a racket, padel is great for beginners and more experienced players alike.

Because it’s similar to tennis and squash, many people who’ve played other racket sports can get to grips with padel quite easily. But, since padel is more about working with your teammates and being strategic than your technique, it can be just as fun for people who’ve never tried anything like it before.

Why is padel so popular?

Padel is becoming more and more popular because it’s a fun sport that’s easy to learn and play for a range of people. No matter your age or ability, padel is an accessible sport with simple rules. And because of the doubles format, it can be easier to pick up as you work with others to learn the techniques and how matches are played.

What’s the difference between padel vs. pickleball?

Type of court - while padel is played on an enclosed court, pickleball is played on an open court with no walls

Singles vs. doubles - padel is usually played in a double format, but pickleball can be played as a doubles or singles sport

Playing style - padel tennis is more about strategy and where you are on the court, while pickleball focuses on quick reflexes, good coordination and getting a bit of power behind your shots
